WorldCare - A Pioneer and Leader in the Development and Commercialization of Global e-Health Services & Solutions

History
Established in 1992, WorldCare was structured as technology transfer (Telemedicine) initiative with clinical support from the Department of Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital.

WorldCare was among the first companies to secure FDA clearance for wavelet compression (1994) the enabling technology that permits the digitization and electronic transmission of diagnostic quality medical imaging. The company went on to develop a full range of teleradiology solutions and constructed The WorldCare Global e-Health NetworkSM to support second opinion e-consultation for international patients and domestic pharmaceutical clinical trial services. In response to market demand, WorldCare developed a comprehensive, medical record based protocol for international second opinion e-consultation referred to as Patient Management Consultation ("PMC’) which includes verification of the primary diagnosis, a recommended treatment plan and follow-up. In 1993 and 1994 WorldCare Gulf and WorldCare Saudi Arabia were formed to launch Second Opinion operations in the Middle East.

The WorldCare ConsortiumSM
In 1996, WorldCare established The WorldCare Consortium, an alliance of three of the top twelve academic medical centers in the United States: Duke University Health System and Partners HealthCare System, Inc., which includes Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Representing  8,000 physicians, including scores of acclaimed specialists and $1.2 billion in annual biomedical research, The WorldCare Consortium is unparalleled, worldwide, for the depth of its medical expertise.

Expansion From The Middle East To Asia And Latin America
In 1998, WorldCare Health Malaysia and WorldCare Mexico were formed to launch operations in Asia and Latin America. In 2000, WorldCare was awarded the "Telemedicine" component of the Multi-Media Super Corridor Contract by the Malaysian Government for the construction and operation of a 41 node, countrywide telemedicine network. WorldCare also developed the first, e-health enabled, serious illness treatment plan for international patients and signed the first, second opinion e-consultation insurance contract with insurance giant AIG/ALICO.

New Products and Services
In partnership with The Consortium, WorldCare has developed a broad range of expert, clinical, pharmaceutical clinical trial, consulting and continuing medical education services. WorldCare has developed highly specialized protocols, processes, documents and QA/QC standards to digitize, encrypt, transmit, track, and deliver expert, specialist and sub-specialist second opinions. WorldCare has also pioneered the concept of multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional e-consultation, an exceptional value in international healthcare collaboration. WorldCare has recently introduced Global Care Management to guide access to specialized U.S. care and has processed and delivered over 15,000 e-consultation studies in virtually every medical specialty and subspecialty.
