Each year, many families are faced with the problem of needing sophisticated treatment for serious medical conditions. Many families value the peace of mind and confidence associated with receiving their care in the United States, with its leading investment in up-to-date medical research and unparalleled resources. Yet, for many, the U.S. medical care system is an intimidating maze, with uncertainty regarding language, customs, payment arrangements, medical practice, and high costs.

WorldCare Global Health Plan Ltd. offers a solution with GlobalCare Management and CarePlus Options, designed to bring the U.S. HealthCare system within convenient reach at a time when it is needed most.

These products are designed to help achieve a healthy outcome and experience.

SERVICES

GlobalCare Management is a program of services offered by WorldCare that provides the basic resources needed to get the most from the U.S. HealthCare system.

The patient will work with an experienced WorldCare Care Consultant on a personal and confidential basis to obtain the information needed about their condition and treatment options to confidently navigate the U.S. HealthCare system. With GlobalCare Management, patients will have access to a large network of hospitals and physicians and receive the same preferred prices for medical care as paid by large U.S. insurance companies. We will provide a comprehensive approach to managing the financial aspects of the experience and assistance with many of the detailed arrangements.

PROCESS (Three Steps)

1) Medical Institution and Physician Selection Assistance: Once a decision has been made to obtain medical care in the U.S., a WorldCare Care Consultant will be assigned to work closely with the patient and the patient’s local physician to assist in the patient’s selection of a U.S. hospital and physician appropriate to their needs. The Care Consultant will provide the patient with information to help them evaluate facilities based on the patient’s history, medical diagnosis, proposed treatment plan, expected costs, location preferences, availability of needed services, and other relevant considerations to selecting the right facility from among the thousands of hospitals in the U.S.

2) Care Coordination: Once the right medical facility has been selected, the Care Consultant will coordinate the admission on behalf of the patient. This includes such important steps as:

  • Arrange specific dates for admission

  • Arrange physician referrals

  • Identify and recommend arrangements for any specialized transportation needs

  • Communicate expectations and requirements to the patient

  • Identify and communicate any additional relevant information, such as cultural considerations or language issues

  • Facilitate discharge planning and return home for the patient

3) Financial Management: With GlobalCare Management, WorldCare provides a comprehensive approach to managing the financial aspects of their experience as a patient:

  • a) PPO Access & Discounts: WorldCare’s network provides GlobalCare Management patients with preferred pricing of services, on the same basis as large U.S. insurance companies. Depending on the facility selected, GlobalCare Management patients may receive average discounts of up to 30% on inpatient hospital and physician services.

  • b) Cost Estimates: WorldCare will obtain estimated cost from targeted U.S. medical institutions to determine advance deposit and/or letter of credit requirements.

  • c) Claims Handling: With our professional claims handling capability, we will properly review and audit medical bills, ensuring an accurate reflection of contractual terms and discounts in the final billing.

  • d) Summary Statement: We will provide final summary statements to the patient for payment. The cost estimates, audit results and summary statement can also be provided to the patients insurance company or other financially responsible parties.

CAREPLUS OPTIONS

CarePlus Options are additional services that you can choose along with GlobalCare Management, providing an even more powerful tool to ensure a healthy experience and healthy outcome.

1) CarePlus e-Consultation

The CarePlus e-Consultation option provides the opportunity to utilize WorldCare’s electronic consultation facility for the review of the patient’s diagnosis and proposed treatment plan using WorldCare’s proprietary e-Consultation network.

WorldCare’s e-Consultation facility provides for the secure transmission of diagnostic quality imaging and other medical information, including delivery of specimens. Leading specialists at one of the WorldCare e-Consultation medical centers review this information and a personalized report is prepared for the patient’s attending physician. In thousands of cases, WorldCare’s e-Consultation facility has assisted local physicians to refine their diagnosis and develop optimal treatment plans.

The network is comprised of the WorldCare Consortium that includes three of the most prestigious medical centers in the United States, including Duke University Health System, and Partners HealthCare System, Inc., which includes Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

When the CarePlus e-Consultation is elected, patients receive an e-Consultation for diagnostic purposes and pre-treatment planning. When appropriate, this option also provides a follow-up e-Consultation after the patient’s return home.

2) CarePlus Treatment Management

The CarePlus Treatment Management option provides patients with concurrent medical case management services during the patient’s U.S. medical encounter.

Treatment of complicated medical conditions involves a myriad of medical details, treatment options, and related issues. Decisions on these issues can affect both the quality and the cost of treatment. CarePlus Treatment Management helps patients throughout the treatment process by:

  • Working with physicians to make the most appropriate treatment decisions for quality care by providing appropriate concurrent medical case management services during the patient’s U.S. medical encounter

  • Continuously monitoring patient needs and medical options

  • Developing comprehensive discharge plans and communicating them to the local attending physician
