Chief Executive Officer
Nasser Menhall, MBA

Nasser Menhall, MBA, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Nasser Menhall is Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of WorldCare Limited and its various subsidiaries in the fields of telemedicine, insurance, and clinical trials. He formerly held positions as Director of IDERA, for ten years, a biotech company specializing in the field of synthetic DNA and immune stimulation. Mr. Menhall was also the Chairman of Avicena Group, a public biotech company specializing in cellular energy modulation and nutraceuticals, and a cofounder of FerruMax Pharmaceuticals, a biotech company specializing in the modulation of blood iron levels in anemic patients. Mr. Menhall also served as President of Charles River Properties, a developer of premium biotech real estate in Cambridge, USA. He built a broad experience in the real estate development field in Hawaii, France, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, primarily in the hospitality sector. He co-founded over ten companies in the healthcare and technology fields. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in economics from the University of Chicago (1977), and an M.B.A. in Business Administration from Harvard Business School (1979).

Hassan S. Sharif, MD

Hassan S. Sharif, MD, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Hassan Sharif is a founding member, Director, Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Medical Officer of WorldCare. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Dr. Sharif holds an honorary consultant post in the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Prior to his current responsibilities, Dr. Sharif served as a Department Chairman of Radiology at the Armed Forces Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia beginning in 1985, where he organized and ran the training program for Radiologists which continues to be accredited by the Royal Colleges of Radiology in London and Dublin. He organized the First International Course On Magnetic Resonance Imaging while in Riyadh in 1986, which continues to be conducted by leading experts from Europe and the United States.

A 1974 graduate of the American University of Beirut, (AUB) School of Medicine, Dr. Sharif completed his Radiology training at AUB, the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and Magnetic Resonance training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Radiologists, London, and is a sub-specialist in cross-sectional imaging, neuroradiology and the musculoskeletal system. He received several awards from the Radiological Society of North America, the European Congress of Radiology and the Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Dr. Sharif has written in excess of 70 original peer reviewed articles for prestigious medical journals, extensively on the imaging features of central nervous system infections and disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Sharif was instrumental in establishing the physician-to-physician relationships of WorldCare's second opinion service. His extensive experience and efforts have bridged the gap between US medical practices and those of the world particularly in the Middle East. He was central developing and crystallizing the concept for the WorldCare's Wellness Center and in convincing Duke and Partners to join WorldCare’s efforts to put together this initiative.

Chief Information Officer & Executive Vice President
Joel A. Kahn, MD

Joel Kahn, MD, Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President

Dr. Joel Kahn is the Executive Vice-President and Chief Information Officer of WorldCare International Inc., and the President of Global Health Services Ltd. In these roles, Dr. Kahn manages the Global Telemedicine infrastructure throughout the multiple countries in the WorldCare network, including the integration of Internet capabilities and developing new strategic initiatives. He is also responsible for running the WorldCare Global Health Plan, a unique insurance policy that includes electronic second opinions. He has published multiple books, book chapters and medical software programs including an interactive multi-media radiology training course for Radiology Technicians. He is an advisory board member for the Consumer Health World conferences and Motus Medical a medical device company.

Prior to joining WorldCare, Dr. Kahn was the Executive Vice-President, Chief Medical Officer and a founder of InteliHealth a joint venture of Aetna-U.S. Healthcare and Johns Hopkins Medicine. He also served as General Manager of allHealth.com the health site of iVillage.com. Previously, he was head of product development for Healthcare Data Interchange Corporation, the EDI subsidiary of U.S. Healthcare. Dr. Kahn graduated from Wesleyan University, received his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College and did a fellowship in Medical Informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard University.

Michael Sullivan, CPA

Michael Sullivan, Chief Financial Officer

Michael Sullivan is the Chief Financial Officer of WorldCare, with overall responsibility for financial, accounting and treasury functions. Mr. Sullivan is a seasoned financial executive with a successful track record across a spectrum of technology companies, both large and small. His expertise includes capital raising, business valuation, company build-out, strategic planning, cash management and turnarounds, for both public and private companies.

Mr. Sullivan also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of FerruMax Pharmaceuticals and Avicena Group Inc. (a publicly traded biotechnology company.) Previously, Mr. Sullivan was the Chief Financial Officer of SEI a leading international software consulting firm and X-Collaboration Software Corp, an award winning startup software company which was acquired by Progress Software (NASDAQ:PRGS). Earlier in his career, Mr. Sullivan served in a variety of senior financial roles at Fidelity Investments and Wang. He began his career at Ernst and Young and passed the entire CPA examination on the first sitting. Mr. Sullivan received his BA in Economics cum laude from Yale University in three years.

Chairman of the Board
James H. Thrall, MD

James H. Thrall, MD, Chairman of the Board

Dr. James H Thrall is the Radiologist-in-Chief, Massachusetts General Hospital and serves as the Juan M. Taveras Professor of Radiology, Harvard Medical School.  He has held these positions since 1988 and currently also serves as a Trustee of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and Chairs the Executive Committee of the Harvard Departments of Radiology.

Prior to assuming his current responsibilities, Dr Thrall served for five years as Chairman of the Department of Radiology of the Henry Ford Hospital where he also served as a physician trustee and held the position of vice-chairman of the Board of Governors of the Henry Ford Medical Staff.

Dr. Thrall received his M.D. Degree from the University of Michigan in 1968.  He completed training in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. where he subsequently served as the Assistant Chief of Nuclear Medicine from 1973 - 1975. Dr. Thrall returned to the University of Michigan as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Radiology in 1975 and was promoted to Professor in 1981.

Nationally, Dr Thrall serves on the Board of Trustees of the Research and Education Foundation of the Radiological Society of North America, and the Board of Councilors of the Society of Chiefs of Academic Radiology Departments. He is a past President of the American Roentgen Ray Society and currently holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the Board of Chancellors of the American College of Radiology. 

Dr Thrall is an author of over 260 publications and reviews and is the founder and Editor of the Requisites in Radiology textbook series. 
Ahmed Saeed Al Badi

Ahmed Saeed Al Badi

Mr. Al Badi is the owner and Chairman of the Belbadi Group, which is based in Abu Dhabi, and includes a diverse group of companies. He is a member of the Board of the Emirates Insurance Company and various other UAE corporations. Mr. Al Badi was formerly Minister of Health and Acting Minister of Oil and Natural Resources in the UAE. He earlier served as Senior Executive at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).

Mohamed El Khereiji

Mr. El-Khereiji has served on the Board of Directors of the Company since July 1994.  Since 1979, Mr. El-Khereiji has served as Chairman of the International Centre for Commerce and Contracting, a contracting and trading company.  Mr. El-Khereiji is a principal shareholder of WorldCare Saudi Arabia. (Mr. El Khereiji is a chairman of Albilad Newspaper Saudi Arabia). Mr. El-Khereiji received a law degree from the University of Cairo, 1973.

Molly K. O'Neill

Molly K. O'Neill, Duke University Medical Center

Molly O'Neill is chief strategic planning officer and vice president for business development for Duke University Health System. She also is vice chancellor for Medical Center Integrated Planning. She began her duties on June 28, 2004.

Before joining Duke, O'Neill served as the executive director of specialty care development for Partners Healthcare System in Boston. She led the Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's Hospitals and affiliated community hospitals and physician groups' growth strategies for specialty care services throughout the region. In addition, she was responsible for service line and ambulatory program development for Partners.

Prior to joining Partners in late 1998, O'Neill was the national vice president of Disease Management and Network Development for Gambro Healthcare, an international specialty health care company with revenues of $2.6 billion. At Gambro, O'Neill built physician networks that worked with managed care organizations and provided "full-risk" comprehensive disease management. In this role, she served as the president of two Florida-based independent practice associations (IPAs).

Previously, O'Neill was the assistant vice president of strategic alliances and new business development at Inova Health System, an integrated delivery system in Springfield, Virginia. During her eight-year tenure at Inova, she was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, marketing, and market research. This four-hospital system included a physician hospital organization, specialty physician networks, long term care facilities, home health services, behavioral health services, and other ambulatory care services.

O'Neill is a summa cum laude graduate of the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, receiving an MS degree in health care administration. She received her BS degree in journalism/mass communication from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Jay B. Pieper

Jay B. Pieper, Partners HealthCare System

Jay B. Pieper is Vice President for Corporate Development and Treasury Affairs of Partners HealthCare in Boston, Massachusetts.  Partners HealthCare is comprised of some of the principal teaching hospitals of the Harvard Medical School, including Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Mr. Pieper oversees financial strategy, investments, mergers and acquisitions, international programs, and various new business developments.  He is also President and Chief Executive Officer of Partners International Medical Services LLC and Chairman of the Board of Partners Harvard Medical International. 

Mr. Pieper was one of the original architects of Partners Healthcare and helped lead the organization through the formation and development of Partners as an integrated academic health system.

Mr. Pieper is a Director of Biopure Corporation, a pharmaceutical company; Eclipsys, a healthcare information systems company; WorldCare, Inc., a global telemedicine company; CRICO, the Harvard captive professional liability insurer; Friends of the National Library of Medicine, and the Harvard Clinical Research Institute which supports clinical trials at several Harvard affiliates.  He is a member and past director of the Financial Executives International.  Mr. Pieper earned a BA from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Peter Tanous

Mr. Tanous is President and a director of Lynx Investment Advisory, LLC of Washington D.C., a SEC registered investment advisory firm. In prior years, Mr. Tanous was First Vice President and International Regional Director with Smith Barney and a member of the executive committee of Smith Barney International, Inc. From 1982 to 1992, he served as executive vice president and a director of Bank Audi (USA) in New York. Peter Tanous serves on several corporate boards. These include: (1) MPS Group, Inc., one of the largest companies in the U.S. in the field of professional staffing services with a concentration on information technology. The company’s stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Tanous serves as chairman of the Audit Committee of the board. (2) Cedars Bank, Los Angeles, a California state commercial bank with branches in Orange County and San Francisco (3) Kistler Aerospace Corporation, a manufacturer of reusable launch vehicles to commercially launch low,orbit satellites in space. (4) Interstate Resources, Inc. a manufacturer of brown paper and cartons.

Hongsun Chang, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Kukdong Oil and Chemical Co., Ltd. since 1999. Hongsun Chang is also Chairman, KeunWha Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. He is the Representative Director, Jinsan Asset who is owner of Pusan Marriott Hotel. Prior to these positions he was Chairman, of Korea Petroleum Association and Chairman & CEO of Korea Makro Co., Ltd., which is now WalMart.

Doros Platika, MD

Dr. Platika's strength lies in the combination of his biotechnology and medical experiences. Prior to joining Curis he held positions of increasing responsibility at Progenitor Inc., a biotechnology company, which culminated in the position of Executive Vice President responsible for research and development. Dr. Platika completed his B.A. from Reed College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received his MD with honors from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He conducted his residencies in medicine and neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, where he became Chief Resident. Dr. Platika completed post,doctoral study at MIT's Whitehead Institute and at the Massachusetts General Hospital in association with Harvard Medical School. He has served on the Faculties of Harvard Medical School and Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was head of Gene Therapy. Dr. Platika is a member of the Dean's Committee for International Development at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and in August 2000, Dr. Platika was elected to the Board of V.I. Technologies, Inc.

Peter Morris

Peter Morris

Mr. Morris’ real estate activities include major investment and development activities in connection with real estate acquisition, financing, development and planning of resort, residential, and recreational properties. Morris currently owns or co-owns, through his real estate company, PRM Realty Group, controlling interests in real estate in the U.S. and Europe in excess of $1 billion in market build-out development values.
From 1982 until 1989, Morris was founder, principal and executive officer of a real estate investment and development company with approximately $8 billion worth of real estate assets in major business and vacation centers throughout the United States. Morris’ partners in this company were Xerox Corporation, the Robert Van Kampen Merrit Bond Fund, and Joel Stone. Mr. Morris’ corporate development activities include financial advisory services for funding and merger and acquisition activities, as well as strategic planning and feasibility analysis. Since 1991, Morris has provided planning and investment advisory services in connection with an investment in Medical Science Partners, a venture capital fund established by the Harvard Medical School for investment in novel technologies developed in the School – including, but not limited to Mr. Morris’ role as one of the co-founding shareholders and directors of WorldCare in 1992.

Mr. Morris graduated from Harvard Law School (J.D., cum laude) in 1975, having simultaneously engaged in studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Morris graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University (B.A., summa cum laude) in 1971, with a major in Public Affairs and Economics and a minor in East Asian Studies. During his academic career, Morris was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Lt. William Larkin Memorial Prize for Best Thesis, combining the fields of public policy and economics, from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. He is the author of a number of publications focusing on rehabilitation of housing. Morris has varying degrees of proficiency in speaking French, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Italian.
