Pacific Blue Cross recently signed an agreement with WorldCare International, Inc. (WorldCare) to provide second medical opinion services to their group clients in British Columbia.
WorldCare will provide second medical opinion services to Pacific Blue Cross group plan members under the age of 85. When a plan member is diagnosed with a serious health condition, this service provides the member and their treating physician with access to a second medical opinion from a network of leading specialists in North America’s top-ranked teaching and research hospitals, which comprise the WorldCare Consortium®. This team of specialists reviews and confirms the member’s original diagnosis and provides treatment plan recommendations. The entire process is overseen by WorldCare’s Canadian-based Global Medical Director, Dr. Richard Heinzl and a Canadian-based Nurse Manager. The service empowers Pacific Blue Cross plan members and their treating physicians with the information and resources needed to make the most informed medical decisions possible.
“We are delighted to provide this important service to Pacific Blue Cross and their members. Pacific Blue Cross continues to demonstrate their commitment to provide best in class services for their members.
