WorldCare ‘adopts’ a local family in need this holiday season

BOSTON, Dec. 18, 2015

WorldCare International, Inc. (WorldCare) ‘adopted’ a local family in need this season, donating holiday gifts in partnership with The South Boston Neighborhood House to a family in need.

WorldCare’s employees came together this holiday season to support a family in need in the South Boston area. After being given a wish list of items, WorldCare was able to donate toys, and clothing to a family in the South Boston area. The donations were given to The South Boston Neighborhood House, which will facilitate the delivery of the gifts. The South Boston Neighborhood House is the oldest continuously-operated community based non-profit in South Boston and has been operational for 113 years.

“‘Money is always tight especially at the holidays, with raising two children under the age of four. I work hard but it seems I can never get ahead. Any help at this time is greatly appreciated,” shared the family’s mother.
“Our WorldCare team did not hesitate to come together to make a difference for this family this holiday season. We have such a compassionate team of employees, who put other’s needs ahead of their own time and time again, and seeing them rally around helping this family just exemplifies this further. We truly hope it brings a bit of happiness to them,” said Tina Karas, Director of Marketing, WorldCare International, Inc.
“So far to date we have matched 257 families with a donation this holiday season. There is a deep need in South Boston for this type of service. This speaks to the poverty in South Boston but this also speaks to the willingness of community members and individuals to step up and help others. Every single family has been matched. It is amazing that we’ve been able to do this and that WorldCare was able to assist us in our mission,” said Kathy Lafferty, Executive Director, South Boston Neighborhood House.
